Israeli students visiting Poland have been asked to stop draping themselves in the Israeli flag.

In a pamphlet produced by two longtime leaders of youth delegations to Poland, it is noted that wearing the flag is disrespectful and against the 1949 Flag and Symbol Law, Ha’aretz reported Nov. 5.

In explaining their request, the youth delegation leaders said they are trying to draw a distinction between serious visits to Poland’s Holocaust memorials and “stadium culture.” About 25,000 students participate each year in delegations to Poland. — jta
