Submission Guidelines

- Opinions (“op-eds”) are full-length essays and are published at the discretion of J.’s editors.
- J. reserves the right to edit for clarity, length and factual accuracy.
- Opinions should be backed by some expertise on the topic, or written from personal experience that deepens a community conversation.
- Opinions should be on current topics relevant to the Bay Area Jewish community.
- Opinions not about explicitly Jewish subject matter should include some insight from a Jewish perspective.
- Opinions should be written in an engaging and fluid style.
- Local writers are given preference.
- J. welcomes submissions by younger readers (13 and up).
- Opinions should be between 700 and 900 words.
- Submissions must include the writer’s full name, city of residence, contact information, and a brief bio describing experience or area of expertise.
